With his future now up in the air Drenthe has admitted he wants to return to his home-town club Feyenoord, who have qualified for the Champions League, claiming he would even call them to initiate a move.

"I want to do what I like and that's play football. In addition Rotterdam is my city," he told RTV Rijnmond.

"Feyenoord have not called me yet, but of course I would not mind if they did. Maybe I'll call them myself."

Sky Sports understands Everton have enquired with Sunderland about the possibility of signing Kieran Richardson this summer.

The 27-year-old had been a loan target for Arsenal in January but Arsene Wenger's attempt to lure the versatile midfielder was blocked.

West Ham are also set to enter the race for Richardson but it is Toffees chief David Moyes who has made the first contact about the midfielder who has 12 months to run on his contract.

Moyes is a long-time admirer of the England international and believes his ability to play in a number of positions will make him a valuable addition to the first-team squad.

Richardson is keen to embark on a new challenge and would welcome the chance to play for a club that regularly challenges for the European football places.

The former Manchester United starlet, who has eight caps for England, has not given up hope of playing for his country again having memorably scored a brace on his debut against the United States in 2005.

DAVID MOYES insists there has been no contact about the vacant manager’s job at Tottenham Hotspur, and says he remains desperate to fulfil his ambitions with Everton FC.

The Blues boss did, however, admit that he had told chairman Bill Kenwright that he would need investment in the playing squad in order to achieve his aims next season.
