Source: Chelsea 1st, Liverpool 15th - Top 20 clubs with biggest transfer incomes across last 10 seasons
It’s been an incredibly slow January transfer window so far with clubs across Europe unable or unwilling to fork out big transfer fees. The winter window is notoriously quieter than the summer with clubs holding off until the end of the season to complete major moves when they can budget accordingly based on league position and revenue. Vitor Roque’s €40m move from Atletico Paranaense to Barcelona remains the highest transfer fee paid this month with loan moves proving popular like Jadon Sancho’s return to Borussia Dortmund from Manchester United.

As most football clubs are well aware, with great success often comes even greater interest in your star players and it seems as though Aston Villa are about to find that out the hard way this summer. The English club were extremely impressive in the Premier League this season, as Unai Emery guided the club to a fourth-place finish and qualification or the Champions League. However, according to reports in England, the Villa Park side may be gearing up for a next season without one of their star players.

Source: Six players who could be available for a bargain this June due to Premier League PSR regulations
Reports emerged last week that could potentially have a significant impact on the early stages of the pending summer transfer window. According to Sky Sports News, Chelsea, Aston Villa, Newcastle, Everton, Nottingham Forest, and Leicester City all must offload players before June 30 in order to comply with the league's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). The deadline at the close of June marks the end of the financial year for Premier League clubs, and they face a fight to stay in line with the regulations. PSR dictates a maximum loss allowance of £105 million (€124m) over three years. These six clubs are in danger of exceeding that limit and facing potential sanctions if they fail to balance the books before the deadline. We already saw both Everton and Nottingham Forest deducted points last season.
